Self-coaching

Coaching is observing the activities of your co-workers and providing feedback to help them work safely. But you can also take control of your own safety and improve your behavior by self-coaching:

* Develop a checklist of critical actions you need to do and actions you need to avoid doing to prevent personal injury in a certain situation

* Using the ABC model (Activator directs a Behavior that leads to a Consequence), analyze what consequences motivate you to take safe or risky actions. Determine what barriers keep you from performing safe actions and what things influence your behavior

* Remove activators that encourage risky actions or barriers that discourage safe behavior

* Reward yourself when you choose safe action over risky ones
